Place a new Shortcut in the Start menu.

Most Windows applications have their own setup routine that automatically places a Shortcut in the Start menu. For applications that do not, you may want to add them to the Start menu yourself.








Go to Next or Previous Page






 



To place a new Shortcut in the Start menu:
  1. Click here to Open the Taskbar Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab.
  3. Click Add.
    The Create Shortcut dialog box appears.
  4. Click Browse.
    The Browse dialog box appears.
  5. Select the application you wish to add to the Start menu and click Open.
  6. Click Next.

  7. Select a location in the Select folder scroll box and click Next.

    The Select a Title dialog box appears.

  8. Type a name.
    This name appears on the Start menu.

  9. Click Finish.

    Hint

    The new menu item is created.

  10. Click OK.

Most of the time you'll want to choose the Programs folder.

If the program you are adding to the Start Menu does not have an icon associated with it, you must select one before clicking Finish.

To select an icon:
  1. Click Next.
    The Select an icon dialog box appears.
  2. Click an icon image.
